English In Search of the Whale Shark

Bahía Solano · Easy

About this adventure

In May, the waters of Colombia’s Pacific coast begin to come alive with an incredible abundance of marine life. During this month, and only once a year, a massive school of sardines arrives in these waters, followed by the largest and one of the most gentle fish in the world: the whale shark.

This incredible shark can grow up to 15 meters (49 feet) in length. It gets its “whale” nickname because of its enormous size, peaceful nature, and its diet of tiny organisms. It is completely harmless to humans — it won’t eat or bite you.

In 2027 we want to experience this incredible adventure once again, this time with even more excitement and more activities focused on searching for the whale shark, giving us a better chance of encountering one in the wild.

We’ll also enjoy other experiences along the way, including visits to waterfalls and hikes through the rainforest.
